Bass Week 2010
Bassenthwaite Regatta Week 31st July – 8th August 2010
Bassenthwaite Sailing Club invites you to join us for our annual regatta week, offering wonderful sailing in a great family environment and in a setting of unrivalled natural beauty. Bass Week is a family regatta that ranks amongst the most popular open events in the North of England.
Please click link to go to the full programme or entry form. (from April)
The Club site offers excellent launching, beaching and limited camping facilities and the well appointed Clubhouse commands views across the Lake. Social functions are arranged each day (for those sailors with spare energy) ranging from a gentle quiz (the competitive spirit continues) to discos and live entertainment etc, including a full programme of events for children.
You may recall seeing the Cumbrian floods on the news during November 2009. The water flowing in to and from Bassenthwaite Lake contributed to the severe flooding seen in Cockermouth and further downstream which caused such devastation and sadly the loss of a Police Officer's life. The club members have worked hard to get the grounds back on track before Bass Week, while more importantly everyone in Cumbria has also worked tirelessly to ensure that Keswick and Cockermouth are both open for business as usual.
Racing is organised for Flying Fifteens, GP14’s, Lasers, Enterprises, RS200’s in fleets together with highly competitive and diverse handicaps fleets split in to fast (PN 822-1004), Medium (PN 1005-1125), Slow (PN 1126-1200) and Topper/Mirror handicap. As previously, fleets may be changed at the discretion of the race committee based on numbers of entrants.
Racing is organised daily with short series being held over each weekend and on the Wednesday; other races are stand alone and include two pursuits. Friday afternoon is taken over by junior (under 19), ladies and over 60s racing. We have many highly valued sponsors in place for our full racing programme, including Insurace4dinghies as our lead sponsor for the week.
Trident UK will again be providing an on-site chandlery service throughout the week.
As ever, there will also be on-site caterers providing a range of meals and snacks throughout the day, a drying area for wet sailing gear, and not forgetting the fully stocked bar to keep you hydrated!
All in all a hectic week, but you're able to take part or opt out as you please - If you want to spend a day in Keswick, or mountain biking through the forests so be it, but you are certain to enjoy yourself!

Why pay for dinghy insurance cover you don't need? With Towergate Mardon's dinghy insurance product, Insurance4dinghies, you choose the level of insurance cover which best suits how you use your dinghy or multi hull. The firm understands that sailors use their dinghies and multi hulls for different purposes, which is why the insurance4dinghies product lets you choose and pay for the level of dinghy insurance cover which best suits how you use your craft. If you don’t use your dinghy or multi hull for racing, you can opt for the cheaper and more basic Bronze package. If you do race, but only at club level, you can choose the mid-range Silver package, which offers racing risks cover but at a mid-range price. And, if you’re really into sailing and attend open meetings, nationals and European or World Championships, they offer full racing risks cover under the Gold package. |

Grapevine the Wineservice Company has been established since 1993 and has provided the wine and beer stocks for the Sailing Club for many years. Their team of committed and enthusiastic people, led by MD and acknowledged wine enthusiast Pascal Delorme, are always at your disposal to discuss your requirements and help you to design an interesting wine list. Year after year they strive to bring to you new products in an effort to keep their range interesting. However, many of their wines have become old favourites on your list and you seem reluctant to replace them. It is, of course, a credit to their makers who have been consistently reliable, together with their "value for money" philosophy. |

On the shores of Loch Harport, the village of Carbost is home to Skye’s only distillery producing a wonderfully powerful and award-winning Island malt bottled at above average strength. Talisker™ embodies all the spirit of this rocky, storm-lashed island and its strong, steadfast people. Skye's only distillery this may be, but like the men of the island the malt has character enough for ten. “Famously distinctive Island malt. From the western Scottish island of Skye. I believe that the volcanic rock of Skye contributes to the pungent aroma; peppery flavour; and big finish. Unusual still design may add a further dimension.” Michael Jackson, whisky writer and expert. The Talisker range includes: 10 year old, 18 year old, 25 year old, Distillers' Edition, 175th Anniversary Bottling, Special Releases. |

The Fat Face philosophy - Hunt down the perfect wave, ski from dawn till dusk, shed your 9 to 5 skin… because when all is said and done… Better a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office. It all began in 1988, two friends desperately trying to avoid working for a living and enjoying all that the French Alps had to offer. The life was way too good to end too soon… but money was running short. A plan was needed… design some sweatshirts, sell ‘em at night, ski during the day, stick around till Spring then head for the beach. Fat Face had been born. They’ve grown a bit since then, sell more than just a few sweatshirts these days and have a few more stores. But one thing will never change; they design kit for those who love to get out there, stuff that’s built to withstand the demands of an active lifestyle. So, whether you’re into extreme sports or just enjoy getting out amongst it… |
