NOTICE OF RACE
1. RULES
(i) The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
(ii) RRS 40 will be changed to require the use of personal buoyancy when afloat. The changes will appear in full in the sailing instructions.
(iii) RRS 33 may be changed. Any changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions.
(iv) RRS 61.1 (2) will be changed to require the flying of a red flag. The changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions.
2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
(i) The regatta is open to all boats of the GP14 Class.
(ii) Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee, to GP 14 Class International Association, PO Box 614, Wigan WN1 9GP, by the 20th September 2010.
(iii) Late entries will be accepted under the following conditions: Entries after 20th September will be at £65.
(iv) All helms must be current members of the GP14 Class Association.
3. FEES
Entries before 20th September will be at £55. (This includes Saturday evening meal and camping)
4. SCHEDULE
(i) Registration will be in the clubhouse from 1030hrs to 1200hrs on Saturday 2nd October.
(ii) Dates of racing 2nd and 3rd October inclusive.
(iii) The regatta will consist of a maximum of 5 races.
(iv) The scheduled time of the first warning signal on Saturday 2nd October is 1255hrs. The scheduled time of the first warning signal on Sunday 3rd October is 1025hrs.
5. MEASUREMENTS
(i) Only certified sails may be used.
(ii) Boats are liable to be scrutineered on arrival and may be measured at any time during the regatta.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration and may be available beforehand on the GP14 Class Association and club websites.
7. VENUE
(i) The regatta will be sailed at Bassenthwaite SC, Dubwath, Cumbria, CA13 9YD.
(ii) The location of the club is shown on the club website www.bassenthwaite-sc.org.uk
8. COURSES
Information regarding courses to be sailed will be given in the Sailing Instructions and at the briefing.
9. SCORING
(i) The Low Point System of Appendix ‘A’ will apply.
(ii) Two races must be sailed to constitute a series.
(iii) When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
(iv) When 4 or 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
10. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS
Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
11. PRIZES
Prizes and trophies will be awarded as follows:
(i) Trophies are awarded to the helms and crews who are overall winners in the Championship.
(ii) Trophies are awarded to the helms and crews who are runners up in the Championship.
(iii) Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Fleets.
(iv) Prizes will be awarded to the first Lady, first Youth (under 21) first Master (over 40) and first Grand Master (over 55)
(v) Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the organisers.
12. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
13. INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £2,000,000 per event.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
There will be a race training day on Friday 1st October at Bassenthwaite SC organised by the GP Class Association and Bass SC. The club will be open from 0930hrs.
There will be a pool, darts and pizza evening in the clubhouse on Friday evening.
The entry fee will include a meal for helm and crew in the clubhouse on Saturday evening, and camping in the club grounds on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Additional meals for non competitors will be available on Saturday evening at £10 per person. These must be pre-booked on the entry form.
Camping is available for non competitors at £10 for tents and £20 for caravans and motor homes.
