Youth Squad Evenings
When we start the Thursday evening series on 1 May, youth squad members will be able to borrow club toppers to take part in this series of races. £5 hire charge. Thursday evenings are very good as we have less wasted time and we also have food afterwards. You can of course sail at weekends if you have your own boat or if club boats are not all being used for training courses.
Topper Coaching
RYA Coach Dave Eccles will be coming to Bassenthwaite SC on 22/23 March to provide a weekend of Topper coaching. Students from Derwentwater and Windermere are also attending. Price £10.
Food and drink will be available for purchase.
Another 2 day Topper coaching course will be arranged for during the summer. Dates to be advised.
Club Open Days
The sailing club has an open weekend on 5/6 April. As most new recruits will be youth it would be good to see plenty of the youth squad around the club, so that new members can talk to you, and out on the water. The club Toppers will be available free of charge this weekend. Normal charge £5 per day.
Topper Open Meetings
It looks as though the youth squad will be much larger and more active this year. 16 Youths reached the Start Racing standard last year and will be able to take part in sailing Toppers or Lasers in club racing and local regattas this year.
Parents Andy Rodger, Sarah Newport and Joanne Hutchman have agreed to help coordinate any visits to Topper Open meetings.

RYA Relay Race
This years RYA relay race is to be held at Derwent Marina in September. Date to be confirmed.
With a bit more experience we should have some winning teams this year.
RYA Youth Regatta
There will be a North West and a North East RYA youth regatta in September. Dates to be advised.
Remember that one youth entering each regatta gets to have a brand new Topper for 3 years.
